Greek Evening 2010
SOCIETY DINNER DANCE
WHICH THIS YEAR WAS HELD AS A GREEK EVENING
Thirty two members enjoyed an evening of fun and frivolity on Saturday 15th May at The Windham Arms in Sheringham. Spiros, Peta and their staff provided us with a delicious three course Greek meal, which, not surprisingly, was eaten in its entirity. Pam McLaughlin then set everyone's brain in gear (not easy after lots of wine and Moussaka) by hosting a general knowledge quiz and this was won by a worthy team consisting of John Bill, Valerie Williams, Nan Smith and Roger Williams.
Each team member received a choice of prize which included more wine, and a gift voucher. Mo Foster Worton won the runner up prize of some gourmet chocolates by answering a question about Chess, namely “which century was chess invented”, his winning response being the seventh century. Mo was a little concerned about winning the chocolates as he and Chrissie had indulged somewhat too freely with food and confectionary whilst on their recent cruise.
Once the quiz was over Dennis and Andy provided us with some fantastic live music and vocals, and it didn't take long before we were all on the somewhat limited floor doing the hokey kokey. Wine and laughter flowed along with some impressive dancing (particularly by Alan Gibbs) until eleven, when everyone finally drifted off home with a happy smile on their face.
Several members subsequently asked Pam if she would organise a similar night sometime in the future.
Our next social event will be an already well subscribed Curry Night on Friday 30th July in Aylsham. If your name isn't on the list and you'd like to attend please telephone Pam on 01263 825912 immediately. We will be starting off with drinks at The Black Boys at 7.30 followed by the meal at Gate of India at 8.30. Both venues are in the Market Place in Aylsham.
In the Autumn there will be another evening of food and bowling at Strikers, and a Christmas lunch after carol singing on Saturday December 11th.
